Unison rejects management proposed changes to shift patterns

After open consultation meetings with the UNISON membership across NTW Health Branch, members attending our consultation meetings have overwhelmingly decided to reject the proposals to change current shift patterns.

Why have our members taken the decision:
1) The proposed changes to current shift patterns are not only unreasonable but unworkable and cause unhappy and disgruntled staff teams
2) The current shift patterns within NTW Inpatient Wards, including working long days is central to work life balance for our membership and to change the current shift pattern will have a huge impact on our members work life balance. It will also lead to unrest, increasesickness
absences and ultimately affect the care of vulnerable people as hand over times will be confusing for patients
3) UNISON is committed to working in partnership and improving working lives for its members within the NTW NHS Trust.
4) Our members have also confirmed much hardship due to extra child care / carers costs. UNISON has now offered the Senior Management team further discussions / negotiation involving the good offices of ACAS if necessary and UNISON will feedback to its membership with any new proposals in the New Year.
